Rungsted Golf Club was founded in the mid-1930s by a small group of golfers who dreamed of building a parkland course in beautiful surroundings. That dream became a reality in Rungsted when they built an 18 hole golf course from drawings by the English architect CA MacKenzie.

The course and clubhouse look today, much as they did at the inauguration in September 1937. Already in the early years, the club held a prominent place in the Danish golf world – partly as host to a whole range of national and international tournaments, but also as home to some of the country’s best golfers.

Among Danish golf’s official bodies, the club has made its mark. For 30 consecutive years, the President of the Danish Golf Union was a member of Rungsted.

In the early 1970s, the club reorganized a number of holes, thus creating space around the clubhouse to make room for the ideal driving range and putting green. The course has maintained its integrity but over time  has adjusted to suit the demands of the game of golf. New tees have been established, holes have been restructured or extended and comprehensive care of the areas between the holes has enriched the experience of surrounding nature.

The clubhouse  underwent a major renovation and expansion during the 1990’s, to ensure it would meet the quality requirements of a modern clubhouse, while  still retaining its original architectural expression.
