Founded as a 9 hole course in 1893, the course was extended to 18 holes in 1923 thanks to Tom Simpson & Herbert Fowler who are credited with the layout we enjoy today.

Blackwell is a traditional members club that respects the traditions of the game, is renowned for its hospitality and welcoming environment, and has a golf course consistently regarded as one of England’s finest.

Blackwell is an 18 hole, par 70 course. Both loops of 9 start and end within close proximity to the clubhouse. Despite its modest length of 6,248 yards, Blackwell remains a tough challenge owing to its five par 3 holes with well-guarded and intricate green sites.

The course also benefits from tee grounds close to the previous green site, meaning the course is extremely walkable and affords a swift pace of play.

Much like many other historic Golf clubs in the UK, Blackwell was founded by a small group of local businessmen during a period of rapid expansion in the game in the late 19th century. In 1893, the 5 gentlemen secured a plot of 49 acres on which to design the first rudimentary 9 hole layout.

Serendipity was on the side of Blackwell as the land proved ideal for golfing, with rolling terrain and soil rich and sandy in composition. It is for this reason that Blackwell drains well to this day, and we are proud of the condition the course enjoys all year round.

Throughout those early years, the club grew in stature, and quickly became recognised as a site for fine amateur golf, hosting numerous exhibition matches and recognised as a sanctuary for camaraderie, and good golf in equal measure.

Blackwell is renowned as the perfect venue for society and corporate golf days, and we pride ourselves on providing a tailored service for groups of all sizes, with bespoke arrangements to meet all requirements.

Alcott Farm is a five-bedroom Bed and Breakfast and a self-contained cottage that is also a working farm and livery yard. You share the 65 acres of rural Worcestershire with competition horses and a scatter of sheep,: it’s rural bliss – with stables. Alcott Farm is a country house situated in beautiful grounds and rolling countryside yet only 20 minutes from Birmingham airport and perfect for NEC convention centre. Solihull, Stratford upon Avon and Redditch are easily reached.

The location is absolutely perfect for those golfing enthusiasts, with courses such as Kings Norton, Fulford Heath, Blackwell and Hollywood located nearby. Simply a golfers dream!

The bed and breakfast accommodation is in the family home. There are four bedrooms, two doubles and two twins, all ensuite: one is on the ground floor but unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible. There’s also a single bedroom that has to make do with a private bathroom just across the corridor. All rooms have televisions and tea and coffee-making facilities, and there’s wifi throughout.

Horses wake early and so does Alcott Farm. Breakfast is served from 7am, with a selection of cereals and full English breakfasts cooked to order: vegetarian options are always on offer and special diets can be catered for.

To say there’s plenty of parking would be an understatement. There’s room for horse transporters so the average car hardly presents a challenge. Security is assured: as a working livery all cars are bathed in CCTV 24 hours a day. There are horses around so small children aren’t helpful: they’re welcome when aged ten or over. Dogs, likewise, need to be kept on a lead.
