Situated half an hour’s drive from Belfast city centre, the rolling parkland course at Edenmore Golf & Country Club is a Frank Ainsworth design that first opened its door to golfers in 1992.

Laid out as two returning nines, both of which start with long par five holes, the course extends to 6,278 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 71. Feature holes include short par threes at the 4th and 14th.

The front and back nines both start and finish at the clubhouse. The last two holes on the back nine certainly add to the challenge with the new 17th and 18th holes being two of the toughest in parkland golf.

In the book Hooked by Kevin Markham, the author described the course as “very short for a par 71 and despite plenty of trees it is a bit too open to be challenging. If you fancy easy scoring on a strongly undulating country course then this is the place.

The hardest challenges will be attacking the greens Most are wide open but surfaces are hard and a bump-and-run approach may serve you best. Bunkers vary from quite flat and easy to steep-faced – but they often encroach across the front of greens.”

The resident PGA Professional Andy Manson and his team welcome day guests, society groups and corporate golf days and are delighted to discuss packages to suit individual preferences which can include refreshments in the stunning clubhouse.

An extensive practice area provides excellent opportunities for practice and tuition. After a recent £2m investment Edenmore has one of the most impressive clubhouses in the province.
