Everything started in 1924: the company “Biarritz Anglet la Forêt” became owner of 150 hectares of forests and dunes to install a golf course.

In 1927, the famous architect Tom Simpson poses his pencils facing the Atlantic for the pleasure of the Duke of Windsor, at the origin of this fun project.
In the architect’s contract, it is stipulated that Simpson should create the most beautiful golf course in the world!

From 1928, the year of the first professional French Championships, to 1938, CHIBERTA became one of the high places of sport and refined elegance of the Basque Coast.
The Chiberta Club House is the scene of events that bring together all the Gotha of the time.

But the magic of the place also inspires the poets, as these lines of the Comte de Jouffroy d’Abbans:
