Designed by James Braid and home to two Ryder Cup Captains … Oswestry Golf Club is a mature parkland course, renowned for its excellent all year round condition and friendly welcome. Set in the glorious Shropshire countryside, yet close to major transport networks, Aston Park is a truly special place to play golf.
The Oswestry Golf Club moved to its present site in 1931, although its history dates further back in time. The current site’s course is a pleasant undulating parkland golf course situated 3 miles east of Oswestry and 15 miles west of Shrewsbury, connected by the main A5 trunk road, making it easy to get to. The city of Chester is only 30 minutes away via the Wrexham A483 bypass. Although you would not describe the golf course as tight there are many trees, it is feasible to have ‘tree trouble’ on every hole on the golf course, but unlikely on some.
Set in mature parkland, the course is well suited to players of all abilities, it was designed by James Braid, who is renowned for his two tier greens. With good tees, beautiful fairways and quality greens Oswestry, with its excellent drainage is ideal for all year round play.
Visiting groups and societies are very welcome at the Golf Club.
The present Clubhouse was opened in 2009 and combines the best of a traditional golf club atmosphere and welcome with all the modern facilities expected by today’s golfers. Both bar and restaurant have panoramic views over the course and there is always something new to see with the ever changing seasonal vista.
