The Rockmount dream began in the early 90’s when Robert and Diane Patterson decided to turn part of their farmland near Carryduff into an eighteen-hole championship standard golf course which would include a modern clubhouse with a top quality restaurant and bar facilities.

The course officially opened on Monday 8th May 1995 when European Ryder Cup player Darren Clarke performed the opening ceremony.

One of thirty-one clubs accredited with a Golf Quality and Assurance award by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Rockmount is totally committed to delivering the very best visitor experience possible, with a modern clubhouse, conference room, restaurant and bar all supporting its maturing parkland course.

Rockmount Golf Course has been cleverly designed to ensure that the land’s natural features are incorporated throughout the 18 holes and the undulating course offers a variety at every turn.

The layout extends to 6,410 yards from the back markers, featuring back-to-back par fives on the 5th and 6th, where water fronts the green on the second of these two long holes. On the back nine, the 397-yard 11th is regarded as the signature hole, with the approach shot having to find a green that’s located behind a substantial pond.

Since the course was first constructed, the owners have continued to add to and improve the original design so developed trees have been planted (at holes 6, 8 and 15 in particular) and new bunkers installed or existing bunkers reshaped (on holes 1, 3, 4, 6, 10 and 15). New water hazards have also been added so a ditch now crosses the 13th fairway and a small pond has been placed in front of the tees on the 14th.

The entire complex covers 120 acres with panoramic views and excellent greens giving satisfaction to all players. Hospitality is second to none and friendly welcome awaits all who visit the course.

The Rockmount Clubhouse is tastefully decorated in old brick and solid oak creating a warm homely atmosphere. From the dining room window there is a panoramic view of the golf course with a backdrop of the famous Mourne Mountains.
