Regarded as one of the finest courses in Devon, East Devon is in the Top 100 Golf Courses of the British Isles.

If you are planning to play golf in Devon a round at East Devon Golf Club is a must. While not a long course, it is hilly and weaves its way through gorse and heather and has spectacular views of the Jurassic Coast.

At its longest the course measures 6297 yards, and provides the best heathland golf in Devon. With several tees rated for both men and ladies, East Devon offers a challenging and enjoyable round for all golfers.

Established in 1902, the course as we see it is now was designed by Harry Colt in the 1920’s. His design sees the holes blend in with their surroundings, being a part of the landscape rather than imposing on it.

The natural heathland of East Devon is rarer than rain forest. In 2020 the club, in partnership with Clinton Devon Estates who own the land, embarked on a programme of restoration to return much of the land to that which Colt would have seen. This is allowing the heather and other native plants to flourish.

Golfers wishing to play one of the best courses in Devon are assured of a warm and friendly welcome at East Devon Golf Club.

Our championship golf course, with a signature design by Harry Colt, is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and offers visitors a unique experience.

Salutation Topsham

Right in the centre of the historic estuary town of Topsham, The Salutation Inn is a smart base for golfers visiting Devon. Several well regarded courses are within easy reach, and it’s a comfortable place to land after a day on the course.

There are just six bedrooms, all individually styled and designed for a proper night’s sleep. All modern en-suite bathrooms make them ideal for couples on a short break or small groups travelling together for a golf stay.

Food is a big part of the experience. The Glasshouse, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is listed in the Michelin Guide. Cooking is seasonal and produce led, with a relaxed feel that works just as well for a quick breakfast before golf as it does for a long, easy dinner afterwards. Groups can book the private dining room, which is well suited to post round meals, celebrations or hosting a golf party together.

On site parking makes travelling with clubs straightforward, and being in the heart of Topsham means guests can step straight out to independent shops, riverside walks and traditional pubs, without needing the car.
