The Burford experience starts when you arrive. Our stunning Cotswold property welcomes you with its lush green fairways that weave their way through mature trees.

The course was designed by J. H. Turner, with the first nine holes to the East of the A361 opened for play in May 1936 and the second nine holes to the West completed on 30th September 1937.

The outbreak of the Second World War saw the fairways of the second nine used for cereal production, eventually being restored for play in 1949. With continual tree management, the course now presents mature specimens and younger native varieties to provide a beautiful back drop of colour and shape, particularly in the autumn.

Burford golf course offers easy walking along sheltered tree lined fairways with few hills. At a length of 6,363 yards, the course is particularly challenging yet rewarding for golfers of all experience levels and handicaps. There are buggies and trolleys available for hire and as the course enjoys good drainage, it is playable all year round.

A balanced mix of left and right doglegs and angled, well protected greens make strategy and accuracy the premium over length. Although the fairways are tree lined, the wooded areas and rough are well maintained with speed of play in mind.

The Wychwood Inn is an award-winning, family-run Cotswold restaurant, hotel and pub located in the picturesque village of Shipton-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire.

Around the central bar are four dining areas; two ambient traditional pub rooms on either side: the quieter main restaurant room with an atmospheric murmur and a private, closed dining room seating twelve.

Take a relaxing drink outdoors in the cushioned garden furniture, at the barrel tables or under the heated gazebo, with easy access to the convenient garden bar.

You can also dine outside, sitting wherever you want in good weather.

The Wychwood Inn in Shipton-under-Wychwood is a perfect base to enjoy a golf break and explore the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). They are fortunate to be surrounded by historical Cotswold sites and beautiful countryside, through which our guests can walk, bike or even boat.

The superb location makes it easy to visit famous Cotswold towns and villages like Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Woodstock and Bourton-on-the-Water.

The five hotel rooms have charm and character. The rooms are bright and modern, but we’ve kept many original features—a perfect blend of old and new.

They offer a seasonal menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A traditional roast is served all day on a Sunday, along with other choices on the menu.
