Founded in 1890, York Golf Club is one of the longest-established clubs in Yorkshire, and is recognised as a Club with one of the finest traditions in the area.

Our lowland heath style course was designed by five times Open Champion J.H. Taylor (one of the great golfing triumvirate of Open Champions/Course Designers alongside Harry Vardon and James Braid), and is a challenge to the most skilful of players but is still thoroughly enjoyable for golfers of all abilities.

Continued significant investment in the course, range and practice facilities, and our Clubhouse ensures that we offer an excellent experience to both YGC members and our welcomed visitors.

York Golf Club extends a warm welcome to groups and societies wishing to visit the Club and enjoy our fantastic course and our outstanding facilities.

We welcome Groups (9 or more players) and Golf Societies every day of the week except for Saturday, when the course is reserved for members.

Hoxne cottages is located near York and sleeps 17 with exclusive use, with hot tubs and perfect for golf groups.

Holiday Rental for Groups of Golfers. Hoxne Cottages, Strensall, York, Yorkshire, sleeps 8 – 17 in 8 bedrooms.
Hoxne Cottages is four holiday cottages, sleeping 17 guests in total, providing luxury accommodation in the countryside yet within close proximity to the beautiful city of York. A perfect retreat for a family get together or a group of friends or well-behaved hens. Only available to groups taking the whole site at Hoxne Cottages with exclusive use.

Each cottage has an open plan living design, comfortable sofas and a cosy wood burner, a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Guests can enjoy their own private space at the end of the day, with 2 bedrooms in each cottage set up as a king and a twin (Poppy has a triple). All 4 cottages have walk-in shower rooms and 2 also have corner baths. On request, tables can be set up in Rose Cottage to allow for dining together for a group of 17.

The outside decks have barbecues and seating for al fresco dining too. All 4 cottages have a private hot tub, somewhere to chill out over a few drinks soothing tired legs after a round of golf.

Rose Cottage is an accessible cottage offering large internal doors, ramp entry, a large wet room and a bigger parking space, helpful for anyone in the group who may be less mobile. Rose Cottage is also dog friendly.

Strensall is home to a nature reserve on the common, a lovely walk which can be extended for a a stop at one of the three local pubs in the village. York is the main attraction here though, a walled city with a rich history and a wide range of attractions, independent restaurants, bars and cosy traditional pubs. Harrogate is also within easy reach; head here for exclusive boutiques and afternoon tea at Betty’s. Walkers and cyclists will also love the close proximity to the Howardian Hills National Landscape and the many tracks and trails on offer there.
